One of the best parts of planning your session is choosing a location that fits your family's style.
I've narrowed it down to a handful of my favorite spots around Troy, each offering a different look while providing beautiful light and plenty of space for kids to explore.
Not sure which location is right for your family? I'll help you choose based on your children's ages, the look you love, and the time of year.
🌾 Hobart Nature Preserve
Dreamy fields & golden sunsets
Perfect for families who love an open, natural feel with tall grasses and warm evening light.
🍂 Duke Park
Classic autumn colors
A local favorite with mature trees, colorful foliage, and easy walking paths for little ones.
🌲 Charleston Falls Preserve
Woodland adventure
Tree-lined trails, rich fall colors, and a peaceful setting for families who love the outdoors.
🌿 Transfiguration Center for Spiritual Renewal
Open spaces & timeless scenery
A quiet location featuring open fields and beautiful natural backdrops that keep the focus on your family.
Every fall is a little different, but here's what you can typically expect in the Troy area.
Late September
🌾 Golden fields & warm sunsets
The trees are just beginning to change, but the golden grasses and soft evening light create a beautiful early fall look.
🍂 The best of both seasons
You'll start to see pops of color while still enjoying plenty of greenery. It's a great time if you love a mix of summer and fall.
🤎 Soft, earthy tones
As the leaves begin to fall, you'll find a quieter, more timeless look with warm neutrals and cozy textures.
Keep in mind: Mother Nature doesn't follow a calendar! Weather can shift peak color by a week or more, but beautiful family photos are possible throughout the entire fall season.
🍁 Peak fall color
This is when southwest Ohio usually shows off its brightest reds, oranges, and yellows. These dates are the most popular and tend to book first.
I know this season is full of school schedules, sports practices, and busy weekends.
That's why I've designed every step of the experience to be simple and guided from beginning to end.
Enjoy a relaxed, child-led session with plenty of room to play, explore, and simply be together.

Select from my favorite local fall locations.
Fall is one of the busiest seasons of the year—and one of the most meaningful times to slow down and be together.
That's why I choose to offer full family sessions throughout the fall instead of seasonal mini sessions.
With a full session, there's time for your children to warm up, explore, and simply be themselves. We aren't rushing from one family to the next or watching the clock. Instead, we can focus on genuine connection and creating images that tell your family's story.
If you're looking for a relaxed experience with plenty of time for authentic moments, I'd love to help you capture this season of your family's story.
I occasionally offer limited mini sessions throughout the year for special events. Be sure to join my email list to hear about those opportunities first.
Most family sessions last about an hour. That gives us plenty of time for kids to warm up, explore, and capture a variety of genuine moments without feeling rushed.
Absolutely! Pets are part of the family, too. Just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a location that's pet-friendly and plan accordingly.
During the busy fall season, galleries are delivered within approximately three weeks. I know you're excited to see your images, and I always work to deliver them as quickly as possible while giving each gallery the attention it deserves.
Of course! Most of my families tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera or worry their kids won't sit still. You don't need to know how to pose or what to do—that's my job. I'll guide you every step of the way so your session feels relaxed, natural, and enjoyable.
That's completely okay—and honestly, it's expected! My sessions are relaxed and child-led, giving kids the freedom to explore, play, and take breaks when they need to. Some of the sweetest moments happen in between the "perfect" poses.
Ohio weather can be unpredictable, especially in the fall. If Mother Nature doesn't cooperate, we'll work together to reschedule your session for the next available date with beautiful weather.
I'll send you a Welcome Guide after booking with tips for coordinating outfits, choosing colors that photograph beautifully, and helping everyone feel comfortable and confident.
This Season Won't Last Forever
One day, the little hand reaching for yours won't be so little.
The giggles, the missing front teeth, the way your child wraps their arms around your neck—these are the moments you'll want to remember long after the leaves have fallen.
My goal is to create photographs that bring you back to this season of life every time you see them hanging on your walls or tucked inside an heirloom album.
Because your family's story is worth remembering.
